Big Walk puzzle solutions — a spoiler-light playbook for every verified puzzle type. This page explains how each pattern works and how your party should approach it. Specific locations are intentionally left out so your first walk stays surprising.
The five verified puzzle types
Big Walk scatters cooperative challenges across the wilderness. The confirmed families are:
- Locked gates — a gate somewhere ahead that will not open until someone (or something) on the approach is handled. The solve is usually a state change that requires another player to hold, stand or carry while you walk through.
- Relay switches — separate points that must be triggered in a coordinated order. One player per switch, a shared countdown, and voice confirmation at every step.
- Line-of-sight riddles — puzzles where what you can see changes what can happen. Binoculars and telescopes matter here: a scout describing the view is often the whole solution.
- Timing sequences — a series of state changes that must happen in rhythm. Cowbells and other sound cues can keep the party synced when distance muffles speech.
- Multi-room trials — several rooms or stages that share one progress state, so earlier decisions carry forward. Whiteboards help here: persistent written notation survives backtracking.
The universal solve method
Every Big Walk puzzle rewards the same approach:
- Assign roles first. Decide who is the scout (describing), who holds each switch, and who coordinates voice before anyone touches a puzzle object.
- One change at a time. Trigger one state change, confirm it out loud, then move on. Double-triggering is the most common way parties reset progress.
- Use the right tool. Locked gates often reward a carried item; line-of-sight riddles reward binoculars or a telescope; timing sequences reward sound cues. The tier list ranks what to carry.
- Fall back to the walkie-talkie. When the party splits around a puzzle, the walkie-talkie carries voice and text across distance — the official FAQ places text chat under the same distance-based system.
- Scale for your group. Puzzles are authored around roughly four simultaneous solvers, and scale dynamically for smaller groups. Bigger lobbies have spare hands, not harder puzzles.
Verification
Puzzle types on this page come from the verified walkthrough puzzles section and the challenges guide, both compiled from build evidence of the 1.0 release. Specific spawn locations and exact solutions are documented only where fully verified; this page intentionally stays spoiler-light.
